Dr. Lauren Cornell, a Diagnostic Breast Physician from the Center for Breast Health at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL, reviews her article appearing in the March 2020 issue of Mayo Clinic Proceedings, which synthesized a vast body of research information into a succinct message for clinicians and patients regarding the diagnostics of breast pain, the need for additional imaging, and the most effective treatment options. She provides an algorithm to guide clinicians and reassures patients that only about 5% of all breast pain stems from breast cancer. Available at: Available at: https://mayocl.in/2OnOAGp

You can often get neck pain relief by stretching out the muscles around the neck that hold a lot of tension. These treatments may help relieve general neck pain & other pains in the neck like tension headaches. Purchase a Sunny Bay neck wrap like the one in the video here: https://amzn.to/2OpkQcv (affiliate link)

The first two stretches to help with neck pain relief are an upper trap stretch and a levator scapulae stretch. They are both great ways to help get rid of your neck pain.

Another great way to help reduce neck pain is using heat and cold therapy on the neck and shoulders. The folks at BioMed DB Design, LLC sent me their Sunny Bay Hands-free neck wrap which can be used for both heat and cold.

Finally, some gentle exercises will help strengthen and reset the muscles in the neck area. Chin tucks to a great job of both strengthening and stretching the neck area. Isometric cervical side bend exercises are a good way to strengthen the muscles without having to do the movements that might hurt.

This is an informational overview video on Amoxicillin. It is available as a powder for oral suspension, a tablet and an injection.

When to use it?
Amoxicillin is a wide-spectrum antibiotic. Which means it can be used to treat thousands different types of bacteria. Therefore amoxicillin is mostly used to treat infections caused by unknown microorganisms, such as:
An upper respiratory tract infection (like a sinusitis)
An lower respiratory tract infection (pneumonia)
An urogenital tract infection (Chlamydia)
An gastrointestinal infection (H. pylori bacteria that can cause stomach ulcers);
Infections in your bones (e.g., osteomyelitis, prosthetic joint infections);
And lastly severe skin and soft tissue infections.

How to use it?
Swallow it tablet whole, with a glass of water. Do not chew on it or crush it. Or resolve the powder in half a glass of water and drink it.
Always take it at fixed times: preferably in the morning and in the evening. This lowers your chances on forgetting a dose. Furthermore, do not interrupt or stop the treatment and finish it completely.

What is the correct dosage?
It is important to always follow the precise prescription your doctor gave you.
Dose for adults and children 40kg:
250-500 mg every 8 hours
750-1000 mg every 12 hours

In serious infections
750–1000 mg every 8 hours

Did you forget to take a dose? And does it take less than 4 hours till your next dose? Than skip the dose you missed and take the forgotten dose at the end of your treatment.

What are the side-effects?
(10%): diarrhea.
(1-10%): nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, skin reactions (such as exanthema and itching).
(0.1-1%): Dizziness, headache, super infections.
(0.01-0.1%): anaphylactic shock, convulsions, drug fever.

Safety:
You can combine amoxicillin with any type of food and even with alcohol.
Don’t use amoxicillin if you are hypersensitivity to penicillin.

Pregnancy and Lactation:
You can safely use amoxicillin if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
However, you should stop with breastfeeding, if you are using amoxicillin and you child gets diarrhea, candidiasis and / or a skin rash.

David Spiegel – Tranceformation – Hypnosis in Brain and Body

David Spiegel - Tranceformation - Hypnosis in Brain and Body

This lecture is part of the IHMC Evening Lecture series.
https://www.ihmc.us/life/evening_lectures/

Hypnosis is a specific form of brain activity that involves highly focused attention, coupled with dissociation, openness to suggestion, and an enhanced ability to modulate perception. New evidence regarding the neural activity underlying hypnosis will be presented, including studies employing event-related potentials, PET and fMRI. Our recent resting state fMRI data demonstrate functional connectivity between the executive control and salience networks among high but not low hypnotizable individuals. Furthermore, we have found that entering the hypnotic state involves reduced activity in the dorsal anterior cingulate gyrus, a key part of the salience network, increased functional connectivity between the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC), a key part of the executive control network, and the insula, which processes mind-body control and pain, and inverse connectivity between the DLPFC and the default mode network, which processes self-reflection. The hypnotic ability to focus attention and modulate perception has clear clinical application, especially in pain and anxiety control. Randomized clinical trials that we have conducted demonstrate the efficacy of hypnosis in reducing pain, anxiety, somatic complications, and procedure duration during radiological interventions. Other RCTs show that hypnosis provides relief of chronic cancer pain. In addition, techniques employing hypnosis are effective in controlling various neuromuscular disorders and PTSD. Hypnosis is an effective brain-based skill that can be easily taught for controlling a variety of psychological and somatic problems.

Dr. David Spiegel is Willson Professor and Associate Chair of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences, Director of the Center on Stress and Health, and Medical Director of the Center for Integrative Medicine at Stanford University School of Medicine, where he has been a member of the academic faculty since 1975, and was Chair of the Faulty Senate from 2010-2011. Dr. Spiegel has 40 years of clinical and research experience studying, hypnosis, psycho-oncology, stress and health, pain control, psychoneuroendocrinology, and sleep. He has published twelve books, 385 scientific journal articles, and 170 book chapters on hypnosis, psychosocial oncology, stress physiology, trauma, and psychotherapy. His research has been supported by the National Institute of Mental Health, the National Cancer Institute, the National Institute on Aging, the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health, and the MacArthur, Fetzer, Dana, and Cummings Foundations. He is Past President of the American College of Psychiatrists and the Society for Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis, and is a Member of the National Academy of Medicine.

Hypnotizing YOU Through the Screen | Online Hypnosis

Have you ever wanted to experience what it’s like to get hypnotized? Because in this video I give YOU the opportunity to experience hypnosis through the screen!

Absolutely anybody can be hypnotized but nobody can be hypnotized if they don’t want to be so how well it “works” will ultimately come down to how open you are to the process here. (:

Ultimately hypnosis happens when your mind experiences a belief as if it is your reality and this video is just ONE example of how you can experience that kind of hypnosis for yourself.
